“I work as an ER social worker, the gatekeeper of the inpatient psych ward. After doing similar work for almost a decade, the hardest part you find is not the patients themselves, but the coworkers and the administration who only add to the unnecessary 'cold evil' of complacency and disregard to occur, fostering a culture of a toxic workplace. My original intention was simply thus; "Grant us the strength to bear with [these evils] so we may minister to the broken hearted, and grant the grace of conversion to those who allow and permit such cold complacency and lack of disregard to occur." While I'm sure the grace was granted to whichever soul(s) our Lord deemed to need it most, I still was pleasantly surprised to get a little letter from my boss informing me of a small increase to my hourly pay based off an annual performance merit review. Our Lady has always looked out for me, even when I was an atheist in my 'former life,' but a small token such as this is still humbly gratifying.”
